This sculpture comes from the success of the first Scottish thistle. I was asked to make it a little different from the original carving as the people who ordered both of the sculptures are sisters. Just like the original thistle, this one was also a tricky design to make work in Oamaru stone.

This piece has found its home and is now part of a private collection. Commissions for Scottish thistle or other cultural symbol sculptures are welcome. Each piece is uniquely carved to honor the design while adapting to the natural character of the stone.
